Round-Up host says no to group that sells Confederate flags
Round-Up week's most visible purveyor of the Stars and Bars won't be back on Pendleton's Main Street this year
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) — Round-Up week's most visible purveyor of the Stars and Bars won't be back on Pendleton's Main Street this year.
The East Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/AOGmks ) that Round-Up host The Main Street Cowboys didn't accept the application of Liberty Flags & Gifts.
Last year the vendor was criticized for displaying and selling Confederate flags.
Host director Johnny Blagg says the current political climate and the media scrutiny were factors in the organization's decision to pass on the vendor's application.
Liberty Flags & Gifts owner Viola Moody says she thought that she and Blagg had reached a compromise for the 2017 event during a recent talk.
But Moody says she recently learned that their application was denied. She says they're "dumping" on the group's free speech.

Jack Bonneau, young Broomfield lemonade seller who was on 'Shark Tank,' to host entrepreneur fair

If you go
What: Jack's Stands & Marketplaces Summer Event
When: Sept. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Orchard Town Center, 14697 Delaware St.
Cost: Prices vary per booth

As the summer draws to an end, one of Broomfield's youngest entrepreneurs still is negotiating deals, developing an educational podcast, and launching an e-commerce website.
Jack Bonneau, 11, also is hosting Jack's Stands & Marketplaces Summer Event, an entrepreneur fair for the youth he works with, complete with his own talk about going from a single lemonade stand to snagging a deal on ABC's Shark Tank and inking a lemonade deal with Santa Cruz Organic. The event also will feature live entertainment from young, local entertainers.
"What I'm going to have is dozens of young entrepreneurs up on the street where they can sell their products and customers can shop," Bonneau said. "We're also going to have youth bands and entertainment there to play music."
Bonneau is the founder and CEO of Jack's Stands & Marketplaces, a business where he operates his own lemonade stands, teaches other children the beverage business, and gives them an opportunity to sell their own wares.
The Summer Event will be open on Town Center Drive at The Orchard Town Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. Some of the vendors will include Sweet Bee Sisters, Bakeology, and Metal Mission.
Kylan Bain, of Westminster, began Metal Mission to raise money for his pen pal in Uganda and for the boy's village by collecting scrap metal.
Bonneau is the founder/CEO of Jack's Stands & Marketplaces, a Denver-based company that provides kids the opportunity to run beverage or marketplace stands in malls or at farmers' markets, and learn the values of entrepreneurship, financial literacy and the ins and outs of running their own business.
Children of all ages are invited to attend with their parents, and learn what true entrepreneurship is all about, Orchard Town Center's Marketing Director Renee Bochnovich said in a news release.
"In between the entertainment, everyone will have the chance to hear kids of all ages pitch their business to the public," she said.
The free event will be open to the public, and while youth are encouraged to attend, the event is valuable for anyone with an entrepreneurial mindset, Bochnovich said.
Rain Adams, who founded Bakeology, met Bonneau this spring at a youth market fair when he approached her table and began talking to her about her business.
Adams, 14, has been baking since she was 9 years old. Initially, the goal was to make vegan dog treats for her pet, which grew into Pawsitively Amazing Vegan Pet Treats. For several years, she sold the pet treats at her home in the Kansas City area and raised about $6,000 which she donated to animal shelters.
When her family moved to Denver three years ago, she started Bakeology. In addition to dog treats, now makes sweets for human consumption.
"It is important for kids to get the experience of pitching their business and concept to an audience," Bonneau said. "One of the most valuable experiences I had as a business owner was pitching on Shark Tank. I look forward to hearing other kids pitch their business ideas, and give them tips on starting and running a successful business for themselves."
This summer, Bonneau has worked with Santa Cruz Organic, selling its products and otherwise promoting its brand, as well as selling honey peanut butter from Boulder-based Good Spread, a company that sends a fortified, peanut butter-based medicine to malnourished children.
Steve Bonneau, Jack's dad, said the two are in talks with Good Spread CEO Robbie Vitrano about creating Jack's own label.
At the end of the day, Bonneau still sees the main mission as teaching other youth about business and encouraging them to follow what they're passionate about. His own stands will be at the Summer Event, but will be manned by other youth.
"I'm going to be the manager walking around seeing how people are doing," he said. "At the end I'm going to check everyone out with profit and loss statements."

I Am Not A Tech Wizard. Can I Start A Hosting Business?
When it comes to making money online, there is no dearth of opportunities. One simply needs to choose the field suiting their skills and get started with it. Out of all the options, web hosting, recently has gained immense popularity. The reason is simple, web hosting forms the core of all kinds of e-business opportunities today. Every website needs a hosting space to secure the required files for proper functioning and a robust web server to function.
The web hosting market is evolving day by day and is churning up new opportunities for those willing to start their own hosting business. So, even if you are not a tech wizard and have a dream of setting up your own web hosting business, this step by step guide will help you navigate through the process. It will also explain the ins and outs of the business and will help you avoid pitfalls that can hamper your success in the future.
Knowing the Market and Which One Should You ChooseWeb hosting has always been a wide-ranging and competitive industry. Most of industry players compete on customer service, and price as the niche markets in the industry are few and widespread.
Keeping the above statement in mind, the thumb rule here is to have a business that offers something distinctively unique to customers, clubbed with great marketing, so your business is easily recognisable by potential clients. The perfect way is to capture a niche market. Doing this, you are positioning your service as being directly associated with a niche and can present yourself as an expert in that field. Capturing a niche will help you focus on your customer service and the needs of the chosen niche(s).
Benefits of Choosing a Niche Market:
2 Crucial Steps to Get Started Reseller Hosting is the type of web hosting provided by various hosting firms wherein the account owner of Reseller Hosting services can rent out portions of allotted bandwidth and disk space to other end users to host their websites.
It is an economical way for budding online entrepreneurs to start a web hosting company. In addition, one doesn't need to have thorough technical knowledge to maintain the servers as the entire management of server resources is managed by the data center operator.
UNIX or Windows – Functioning as the backbone of a server, there are two main operating system choices – Windows and Linux. Windows offers familiarity, ease of use and has a high start-up cost associated with software licensing. Linux OS, on the other hand, is free and offers open source software that you need for hosting.
Hosting Control Panel – The two popular hosting control panels include Plesk for Windows and cPanel for Linux. Both are subscription based and can be either paid monthly or annually.
Billing Software – An easy-to-use billing system is crucial for you as a beginner in the hosting business. Opt for an automated billing system like WHMCS that comes packed with support ticketing features, account management and domain management that are crucial for the success of any hosting business. In addition, WHMCS supports both Linux and Windows operating systems.
Customer SupportCustomer support is one of the most important aspects to keep in mind when planning to start a hosting business. With an exceptional customer service, it will become easier for your business to gain popularity and hundreds of satisfied customers. Remember, customer support begins the moment someone visits your website. Offer support in the form of live chat or free call at the click of a button. In addition, make sure the website is user-friendly, has a secure and streamlined checkout process.
Once you convert a lead and gain a customer, sending out an email with all the details (payment, setup information, registration details, etc.) is recommended. In the first few months of service, customers may call several times, so make sure the support staff is prepared to solve any queries they may have. Customer satisfaction is paramount in any business, so make sure you have a strong customer support for your clients.
ConclusionAs stated earlier, starting a hosting business requires a great level of dedication and time commitment. So, if you are motivated enough and have the right approach, you can easily build a hosting business, that in future can be a constant source of income. All the best!

Target is reportedly abandoning Amazon's cloud services as the web giant takes over retail
Target is reportedly looking to move its online services off of Amazon's cloud. AP/Robert F. Bukaty
It seems Target might be following Walmart's lead and moving off Amazon's Web Services cloud computing program.
The retailer with the Bullseye is planning to move at least some of its e-commerce platform, mobile development, and online operations off Amazon's service, and instead use a competitor like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, according to a new report by CNBC.
The move would be taken amid a sharp uptick in the competition online among retail giants. Target is moving aggressively to sell more product online, and Amazon is moving to solidify its dominance in the sphere.
It would make sense for Target to move to limit its exposure to a main competitor. AWS is the dominant business for hosting websites and services, with a 44% share of the market, according to Synergy Research Group.
A spokesperson told CNBC that Target currently uses multiple cloud services, and would so in the future, but doesn't detail specific vendor relationships.
If Target did move its services off of AWS, it would be following the lead of its larger competitor Walmart, who told certain technology vendors to stop using Amazon's cloud services earlier this year according to a Wall Street Journal report.
