Host Europe, the London-based website hosting company, is up for sale and today is the final due for bids. GoDaddy and United Internet partnering with Warburg Pincus, the private equity firm, are apparently in a bidding battle to gain control of the company.

Host Europe has recently been valued by bankers at over $1.9 billion. The company has posted a 45 percent increase in profits last year and the forecast for next year's earnings is projected to be well over $170 million.

Over 7 million internet domain names are managed by Host Europe with nearly 2 million customers.
