GoDaddy Unveils Website Building Tool GoCentral

As the longtime leader in streamlining the process of buying a domain name and providing hosting services for small and medium-size business (SMBs) owners, GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) has grown into a $6.25 billion market capitalization powerhouse.

Diversifying GoDaddy's revenue sources to include web design tools would be a natural extension of its core business, and the company is doing just that with the introduction of GoCentral. According to GoDaddy, the new GoCentral offering "combines a mobile-optimized website builder with an integrated set of marketing and e-commerce tools."

That integrated set of tools is a key feature, and could prove to be a differentiator for GoDaddy compared to web design solutions offered by competitors such as Israel-based Wix. Wix and a handful of others with similar drag-and-drop web site tools for the most part leave the responsibility for driving traffic and converting site visitors into customers to SMBs.

GoCentral's "smart learning system" aims to change that because "it helps customers get noticed, reach audiences wherever they are, and drive real results, including sales." GoDaddy's all-in-one package of website design and marketing tools also includes an online store that is ready take orders right out of the proverbial box.

In addition, GoCentral's online store is prepped for accepting major credit cards and mobile payment alternatives as well as providing SMBs with inventory management and shipping features. GoDaddy stock climbed 3% after the company introduced GoCentral Wednesday.
